About TIGSleeve™ — Handcrafted TIG Rod Storage Tubes

TIGSleeve™ is a professional TIG filler rod storage brand developed by X3M TIG Welding Ltd. in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Developed from decades of hands-on industrial welding experience. TIGSleeve was designed to solve a practical job-site problem: keeping TIG filler rods clean, protected, organized, and easy to transport.

The product was developed from experience working in industrial construction, pressure piping, refineries, power generation, and demanding field environments where proper filler-metal handling and organization matter.

MY STORY

TIGSleeve™ came from a problem I dealt with for years as an industrial pipe welder.

On large industrial jobs, TIG filler rods often came in simple cardboard containers.

Once those containers were opened and moved around the job site, keeping different filler metals separated, clean, dry, and protected wasn't always easy.

The problem became even more obvious when working at elevation. Getting filler rods up to a high line or scaffold could be awkward.

 

We would sometimes tape rod together, carry them in a tool bag, or tie them onto a rope with other equipment being lifted to the work area.

Once you were in position, there was another problem —

Where do you safely keep three-foot filler rods while you're working?

On grated platforms, loose rods or containers could fall through.

 

On scaffolding, there wasn't always a practical place to secure them.

Sometimes filler rods would even end up temporarily stored inside scaffold tubing, where they could easily be forgotten when the scaffold was later dismantled.

After dealing with these situations repeatedly,

I wanted something purpose-built for the way TIG welders

actually work — a durable container that could protect the rods,

keep different filler metals organized, and be easy to carry,

and secure at the work location.

THAT IDEA BECAME TIGSLEEVE™.

I designed TIGSleeve™ around problems I had experienced firsthand in industrial welding environments.

The aluminum body helps protect filler rods during transport and storage,

the color-coded design helps separate different filler metals,

and the detachable carrying strap makes the tube easier to transport and secure while working in the field.

TIGSleeve wasn't created because I was looking for another welding accessory to sell.

 

It was created because I wanted a better solution to a problem I had dealt with throughout my welding career.

ORGANIZE YOUR FILLER METALS YOUR WAY

TIGSleeve™ is available in five color options to help welders visually separate and organize different TIG filler metals. Assign each color to the filler metal you use most—such as carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, nickel alloys, or titanium—and identify the right tube at a glance.

There is no required filler-metal assignment for each TIGSleeve™ color. The examples below are simply one way to build a color-coded organization system—each welder or shop can assign colors to match their own filler metals and workflow.

Example: Aluminum

Green can be used to separate aluminum TIG filler rods from steel and stainless filler metals.

Example filler metals:

  • ER4043 (Aluminum)

  • ER5356 (Aluminum-Magnesium)

  • Other aluminum grades (e.g., 4643)

Yellow can provide a highly visible identifier for nickel alloys or other specialty filler metals.
